Spring is Coming!

The calendar this week let me know that spring is here!!! The weather outside may not be ideal…but it IS COMING!!!!

What a crazy month! NCAA Basketball tournament…congrats to my Northwestern boys, WOW! I finished my taxes, and got them to the accountant (yup, already!) I am in major spring cleaning mode. Closet purge is in full swing. If the cats sit still long enough they may even get an overhaul (noooooo!!!) I am making some modifications at the office. Also finding ways to cut back financially (personally and in business) that make me kick myself for not doing long ago! Continuing to move forward with some things; and excited to see what happens! I am getting my mojo back!!! Its about time! Yay!

Spring also brings the Shamrock Shuffle 8k. Historically this race was the “start” of the outdoor running/racing season (well to some degree). This is the 3rd year that I have raised money for the Alzheimer’s Association Team ALZStars. It may not be a long race like the Marathon, but since I am working so much helping others get to the race and beyond, I unfortunately can’t race. This is my chance! Alzheimer’s is so close to my heart.

This is my note on my Participant Page…just a little regarding why it means so much to me…

3 years ago, I decided that after several years of races (running & triathlon) that I needed to do something more. I NEEDED to do my part. I still feel this way…

This will be my third year running the Shamrock Shuffle with Team ALZ Stars. I also am fortunate enough to volunteer time to work with the marathon team as they train, and come from all over the world to race the Chicago Marathon. I love meeting all these wonderful people, and I love supporting them as they make their way to the start line!

It is a great feeling moving toward that start line…checking the Garmin as the miles click off…feeling good, even when I am not. The excitement as I move closer to that finish line. Crossing that line…whatever the pace, whatever the result…feels amazing. Maybe because it is over, maybe becasue it started; but mostly…because I can. I can look at my race photos, my selfies with race friends, and even reflect back on Facebook 1, 2, 3, or more years later…and remember…because I can.

I have known, loved, and lost, way too many to this horrific disease. This disease is one of the cruelist, as it robs you of yourself, your memories, your thoughts, your life. Those special memories, the photos, the scrapbooks, the inside jokes…all become one sided.

I want to support this cause, not because I don’t believe in other causes, or they aren’t amazing as well. I NEED to support this cause…I want to fight for MY future.

I’m going the distance with the Alzheimer’s Association ALZ Stars®, a program to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Association.

Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer’s and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.

I need your support to do my part! Please make a donation to help the Alzheimer’s Association advance research to discover methods of prevention, treatment and ultimately, a cure for Alzheimer’s. For the millions already affected by the disease, the Association offers care, education, support and resources in communities nationwide. Please help me meet my goal, whether it be this race or another (or all!) Every dollar will help. If not now, some other time. The support in spirit is just as valuable to me and others, and I have had so much of that from all of you over the years.

Thank you in advance for your generosity – together, we can outrace Alzheimer’s disease.

Much Love,

Terri Lynn Visovatti

I have exceeded my fundraising goal! I am now hoping to raise even more! Just a couple pics from the last 2 years with my ALZ Star Team!

I am also buckling down with my training and prepping for training camp in a few weeks! Coaching and participating as my first 70.3 since 2014 is quickly approaching!

Thats all I have for now…come in for a session to help your training. Maybe a form analysis. How about some coaching. A run? A ride? Plans for all of this, and more! Stay tuned for updates! 😉

If you’re at the Shamrock Shuffle…look for me in my purple singlet and my purple Betty Designs trucker hat!!!
